The Cause of an Expensive and Broken Health Care System

1. The cost of educating a doctor or health care professional can be very expensive and then the cost of malpractise insurance is out of site. The cost of pharmaceutical research and medical equipment.

2. The burden hospitals must endure on costs that they cannot recover. Because hospitals must accept any patient that is in life threating situation many of these people have no insurrance or the means to pay for the care and so alot of costs go unpaid. These costs are then passed onto those that can pay and those that have insurance. Health insurance companies will then negotiate down most procedures and what they are willing to pay and so either the hospital has to collect the difference from the patient or write off the expense.

 3. The focus of health care is on the fixing of a problem and not on the prevention of the problem. More can potentially be made on fixing a problem than preventing a problem.

Medical research focuses on curing or slowing a disease rather than preventing a disease and to pay for the research the patient pays for expensive drugs and treatments.

Medical equipment focuses on early detection and fixing problems where there more money is made. More money also to be made to justify and pay for this expensive equipment.

Most of the training and new innovations are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment companies who focus on fixing a problem and they are in business to make money for their stock holders.

A Detailed Analysis of Barack Obama’s Health Care Reform Plan

By Robert Laszewski

Barack Obama’s health care plan follows the Democratic template—an emphasis on dramatically and quickly increasing the number of people who have health insurance by spending significant money upfront

Obama breaks his health care reform plan down into three parts saying that it builds “upon the strengths of the U.S. health care system.”

The three parts are:

1. Quality, Affordable & Portable Health Coverage For All
2. Modernizing The U.S. Health Care System To Lower Costs & Improve Quality
3. Promoting Prevention & Strengthening Public Health >>>Read More

Obama is on the right track but to understand the solution you must understand the problem. Before you can fix Health Care you need to know why health insurance and health care cost so much. There are 3 major areas of concern that all could be improved upon if we changed the focus of how to maintain Sustainable Health

Published: November 25, 2007 New York Times

‘The relentless, decades-long rise in the cost of health care has left many Americans struggling to pay their medical bills. Workers complain that they cannot afford high premiums for health insurance. Patients forgo recommended care rather than pay the out-of-pocket costs. Employers are cutting back or eliminating health benefits, forcing millions more people into the ranks of the uninsured. And state and federal governments strain to meet the expanding costs of public programs like Medicaid and Medicare.

It is the worst long-term fiscal crisis facing the nation, and it demands a solution, but finding one will not be easy or palatable.’ >>>Read More

The Causes

Traditionally to achieve Sustainable Health we focus on fixing the problem rather the preventing the problem. Doctors and heallth care facilities and medical related companies can make more fixing a broken, sick and diseased body than otainaining Sustainable Health by preventing the illness in the first place.

Doctors spend a lot of money on their education and insurance so doctors need to charge a lot so they can recoup their expenses. Then they buy expensive equipment that they need to recoup the cost of and justify their expense. Then they are kept knowledgeable about the latest innovations in Sustainable Health by medical companies and pharmaceutical companies whose motivation is to make more money.

The Solution

Pay for the education of doctors and nurses focusing on Sustainable Health prevention and pay their malpractice insurance and take the profit out of health care. Doctors and health care professional participating in the program would work 10 years or some decided amount of time in the government assisted heath care plan that would cater to the poor and those unable to afford insurance. Pay would increase so that doctors who wanted to stay in the program could if they wanted to stay passed the required time. Doctors that have been forced to quit because of the high cost of malpractise insurance could also join program.

Train doctors and educate the public on Sustainable Health through prevention of illness and disease. Those doctors that still feel the need to make money could do so by specializing on elective procedures that would not be covered by insurance. These professionals could also pay for their own malpractise insurance.

Reconstruction and repair due to accidents and negligence would be covered by lawsuits and government programs.

To achieve Sustainable Health through eating right and proper nutrition will require educating the public on the true motivation of all food companies and pharmaceutical companies. Food companies and pharmaceutical companies are in business to make money for their stock holders. Parmaceutical companies oppose nutritional products because they are non patentable and they cannot make money on products they cannot own the exclusive right to sell.
